Unction of the Holy Spirit

1 John 2:19-21, 27 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
But the anointing which ye have received of him abides in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Many are confused or dismissive about the Holy Spirit’s role in the church today. God established the Holy Spirit as our teacher and guide. If we choose to ignore him or count the unction of the Holy Spirit as unimportant, we are missing a valuable resource, our lifeline and connection to God in this earth.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 Now he which established us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
We can’t afford to ignore the Spirit’s leading. It is the Holy Spirit who leads us to ask God for forgiveness of sin. He welcomes us in to the body of Christ and comes to dwell in us.
Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you.
1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but ye know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you.
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Whether we are looking to God for salvation of our spirit, soul or body, God has provided Holy Spirit and he requires we listen to him and follow his instructions. Absorbing the word is essential to believing God and learning to live by faith. Listening to the unction of the Holy Spirit and doing what he says is how we receive anything God has provided.
